Selena Gomez: How
Breaking Up with
Justin Bieber Helped
Me Grow and Focus On
"I questioned the way I looked, acted, sang, and wrote. I started becoming very stale with my music, and I realized that I was doing things for other people," the Spring Breakers star explained about the tough period in her life. She told Seventeen magazine that she took the hurt from her breakup and funneled into making new music.
"I turned 20, went through a really bad breakup, and realized I needed to pick up everything. I was tired of feeling defeated. All this time, I was so pissed trying to figure out why I felt like such an underdog, and I finally realized I just wasn't ready. I'm glad it's taken me this long to get where I am because now I am ready for it," she added.
The result of that renewed spirit was her single "Come & Get It." The video featured an all-grown-up Selena rocking red lipstick and sexy dance moves.
Although the couple known as "Jelena" were recently spotted hanging out near Justin's Calabasas, Calif. home together, sources say that Selena put down some ultimatums before getting back together with her ex.
One of those demands was reportedly that Justin take anger management classes. That seems like a good idea, considering that his home was recently raided after Justin and some of his pals were accused of egging a neighbor's home. Cops seized the "Baby" singer's cell phone and arrested his friend Lil Za on drug possession charges.
