On Feb. 5, it was revealed that Selena Gomez secretly completed a two-week stint in rehab last month.
According to her rep, Selena checked herself in to the treatment facility voluntarily, adding that her issues were not related to drug or substance abuse.
If the 21-year-old just needed to clear her head, we understand why. It’s been a pretty tumultuous few months for the young singer. Check out Selena’s road to recovery:
December 6: The “Come and Get It” singer shocked her fans when she cursed and stormed off the stage at a Jingle Ball concert when the sound wasn’t working. According to reports, she dropped the microphone and walked off stage even though she was supposed to sing two more songs.
December 19: Sel announced that she was cancelling the Asian and Australian leg of her tour. At the time, she made a statement, saying “My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them. But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be.”
January 2: Jelena lives! Less than two weeks after she cancelled her tour to sort out personal issues, Selena resurfaced with her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. While this was before Justin’s issues with the law, many friends and fans already felt that JB was a bad influence on the starlet.
January 4: An eyewitness tells In Touch that Selena looked “like something was troubling her” when she was spotted at Cici’s restaurant in Studio City. “She is usually so put-together, but her clothing looked haphazardly thrown on and she didn’t even crack a smile,” the eyewitness said.
January 4 – 20: Selena went two weeks without any social media interactions.
January 20: Selena was in Park City for the after-party for her film Rudderless at Sundance Film Festival. An eyewitness revealed to In Touch that the 21-year-old “clearly looked like something was bothering her.” The source added, “Selena took the stage to sing a song she performed in the film, ‘Yesterday is Far Away’ alongside Ben Kweller. It was a sad song she performed with a lot of emotion and sounded flawless. You could tell she was really connecting with the lyrics… she just appeared to be powering through and was trying to put on a brave face which she did very well.”
January 23: In the early hours of the morning on Jan. 23, her ex Justin Bieber was arrested and charged with a DUI, resisting arrest and driving with an expired license. While this was likely hard on Selena, she put on a strong front and a happy face when she grabbed dinner with her close pal Demi Lovato that night.
January 24: Just in time for the Grammys, Selena resurfaced again with her Spring Breakers costar Ashley Benson at the Pre-Grammy Beats Music Launch Party in LA. According to an onlooker, Selena “looked really happy” but remained “totally in her own zone.”
January 25: In the early hours of Jan. 25, a stranger was arrested after a 19-year-old was discovered breaking in to Sel’s home.
January 30: Selena was spotted leaving an office building in Woodland Hills, and kept her face completed covered.
February 2: When the Spring Breakers star stepped out to and grabbed brunch at Hugo’s, an onlooker couldn’t help but notice that the former Disney star frowned the entire time. “Within the past few weeks, since she has returned from Sundance and Justin Bieber’s wild antics keep growing more and more alarming in the media, she has been looking really depressed… We’re hoping to see Selena smile soon but for now she looks like a person who is going through something really traumatic in her life.”
February 5: It was revealed that Selena had voluntarily check herself into a treatment facility for two weeks, though her rep stated that it was not for alcohol or substance abuse. That same day, Sel’s best friend, Demi, reached out on Twitter praising Selena for seeking help.
