It’s been seven years since Salma Hayek was pregnant with her daughter Valentina, but she remembers the changes in her body like it was yesterday. The 40-year-old recently admitted that her 50 pound weight gain made her feel like she was “completely disfigured”— but in the long run, she’s come to appreciate herself even more."I gained so much weight, I got an opportunity to see myself completely disfigured in many different ways - for a very good reason - and I don’t regret it for a second," she says. But ultimately, it opened her eyes to just how beautiful she is."That’s when I started appreciating my body. The things that I used to criticize, they were not that bad after all," she said. "We've got to fight for our confidence every day in modern life because we live in a society that is very harsh to women.”The actress says the pressures of Hollywood were very much to blame for her distorted views of her and her lack of self-confidence."You have to be smart and successful and a good mother and beautiful and young and skinny forever,” she said. "It’s a lot of pressure. So I think we have to take a deep breath and just enjoy ourselves and say, ‘I’m going to be the best that I can be, and that’s more than enough.'"
