Reese Witherspoon is opening up about what really went down on the night of her and husband, Jim Toth’s recent arrests.
“We went out to a restaurant in Atlanta, and we had one too many glasses of wine," the Oscar winner told Good Morning America this morning about the night of the recent incident.
Two weeks ago, Reese’s agent husband was pulled over while driving and was charged with a DUI before the mother of three—who was a passenger in the car—was then booked for disorderly conduct.

"We thought we were fine to drive," she admitted, "and we were absolutely not, and we are so sorry and just so embarrassed. We know better and we shouldn't have done that."
And Reese made it perfectly clear she has learned her lesson. "We made a mistake, and it was something that will absolutely never happen again," she says.
The A-lister, who tried to play the “Hollywood card” during her arrest, claiming "Do you know my name? You’re about to find out who I am!” admits she crossed the line by getting mouthy with the arresting officer.

"I was so disrespectful to him," the actress said. "I have police officers in my family. I work with police officers every day. I know better. It's just unacceptable."
Reese then confirmed what her close friend, Chelsea Handler, admitted after the arrest— she acted on impulse trying to protect her husband.
"I have no idea what I was saying. That night I saw him arresting my husband, and I panicked. I said all kinds of crazy things. I said I was pregnant," she admits. "I'm not pregnant. I said crazy things. I had no idea what I was talking about."
Reese’s advice for others after the embarrassing ordeal? "When a police officer tells you to stay in a car, you stay in a car," she says.
