Ryan Conklin never wanted history to repeat itself. Yet three years after the Real World: Brooklyn star had completed a tour of duty in Iraq, he moved viewers to tears when he learned he was being redeployed to Baghdad’s front lines. “I’m not going to lie, I’m scared,” Ryan, 24, told In Touch from Fort Bragg, N.C., on April 15, a few days before shipping out. “Everyone is. It’s nerve-racking.” Ryan, who was recalled to active duty through the U.S. Army’s Individual Ready Reserve program, said he hadn’t come to terms with going back. “The feelings are buried deep inside,” he revealed. “I know it will be creepy walking those streets.” Still, Ryan is trying to remain optimistic. “I’m always the type to think I’ll make it home. There are too many things I want to do,” the aspiring filmmaker explained, adding he has one goal that keeps him going: “I want to do Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live!”
