Throughout her time on The Real Housewives of New York City, Bravolebrity, Aviva Drescher, has spent most of her story line opening up about the struggles of her past.
Never one to shy away from being honest about her life as an amputee, the Women’s Running magazine cover girl opens up to In Touch about how she never lets her status get in the way of staying fit, how running is her main escape from all the Housewives drama -- and of course, Aviva teased us with what to expect on the upcoming season!
On being on the cover of Women’s Running, “A lot of amputees are much more athletic than me,” Aviva admits. “And they’ve been on so many other covers of magazines and they’re doing Olympic sports, but I’m not that athletic. However, I don’t think you need to be that to grace the cover of this magazine. I’m truly honored. I think I’m the first amputee on their cover.”
But running wasn’t always easy for Aviva.
“Until the age of 26, I couldn’t really run much because I had an awkward amputation at the ankle,” the mother of four explains. “I had another amputation at the knee and then I was able to run again, using the right prosthesis.”
And since she’s been able to run, Aviva hasn’t stopped – especially since joining the cast of RHONY.
“Running is a really great time just for myself to get away from it all, once in a while – and plus, you always feel great after a good run!” the Housewife says. “I love running because it’s always a half an hour of ‘me time.’ When I’m running, there’s no working, no filming and no cameras. Although a lot of it is fun, filming can be such a chore.”
So what was it really like filming the last season of RHONY – and what will we see on screen? Aviva gives us the scoop.
“I feel like this season is going to be major. This year, there is already history between people, so we were already likely to get more angry and contentious with each other – fast! It’s very dramatic. I can guarantee an amazing season.”
We know we’ll be tuning in!
