Raven-Symoné is a tough nut to crack.
Raven and her co-hosts at The View discussed the I Am Cait premiere during a July 27 taping of the show. The 29-year-old caused a stir after she made comments regarding Caitlyn Jenner’s gender transition.

"I think it’s wonderful, and yes, it needs a light being shined on it," Raven said. "When I came out, I didn’t go and go hardcore and be like, ‘I’m going to save the world for LGBT...' You’ve got to learn it. You’ve got to learn it first, and she’s not, really."

Co-host Rosie Perez challenged her viewpoint, stating perhaps the 65-year-old was waiting for the “proper platform.”

"Well, I think you can be strategic before you come out as well. Before [I came out], I was definitely repping the community, even when I wasn't saying this is what I was. And I'm not faulting [Caitlyn], because yes, we need [her]. It's too fast, too soon," Raven adds.
The former Disney star came out as gay in August 2013 via Twitter after New York legalized gay marriage.

Her reps released a statement on her behalf a few days later, reading, "I am very happy that gay marriage is opening up around the country and is being accepted. I was excited to hear today that more states legalized gay marriage. I, however am not currently getting married, but it is great to know I can now, should I wish to."
