Putting Rumors to
Rest: Jada Pinkett
Smith Talks Open
Marriage to Will Smith
The rumors aren't true, folks.
Jada Pinkett Smith recently addressed the rumor that she and her husband, Will Smith, have an open marriage— and it’s not the case at all.
“No, I think people get that idea because Will and I are very relaxed with one another,” the actress says when asked about the speculation. “I always told Will, ‘You can do whatever you want as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be okay.’”
The pair, who have been married since 1997, have had their ups and downs, but Jada makes it known that having a significant other is no easy feat...for anybody.
“I don’t think it’s easy to be married to anyone. I think that you have to go into a relationship knowing — especially when you’re dedicating to someone for the rest of your life — this is a life partnership,” she said sternly.
Noting that Will is her “best friend,” Jada says that, when it comes down to it, the I Am Legend actor is big enough to make his own decisions about their relationship.
“At the end of the day, Will is his own man,” she says of her hubby. “I’m here as his partner, but he is his own man,” she explains. “He has to decide who he wants to be and that’s not for me to do for him. Or vice versa.”
“One thing is for sure: I love him deeply,” she says.
