Since resuming production for Fast & Furious 7, the stars of the film—Tyrese Gibson and Vin Diesel in particular—have been candid about how difficult it has been to slip back into character after losing their “brother” Paul Walker just a few months ago on Nov. 30.
And now, another costar, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, has opened up about the unfathomable loss they experienced—and how they’ll be able to move forward with the production.
Police Investigation Reveals Paul Walker’s Death Was Caused By Speed
“It’s very important for everybody involved, of course. It’s not easy, and it’s a challenge when you have something like this, a beloved person,” the former professional wrestler said. “Paul, as you guys know, he was truly one of the good guys, a great dude, who didn’t take himself seriously, loved what he did, understood the business of the business.”
Tyrese, who plays Roman Pearce in the racing franchise, recently revealed how they plan to do a “strong prayer” before production filming begins on the latest installment, while Vin Diesel explained how his role now has a “new purpose” personally as he hopes to pay tribute to his late friend.
Dwayne revealed the production has plans to “creatively” honor Paul as well.
“You got the real deal, genuine guy when you got him,” he told Yahoo! Movies. “So it’s important for everybody to creatively honor him in the best way that we possibly can.”
Paul Walker’s Mother Petitions For Guardianship of His Teenager Daughter
Each member of the cast had an unbelievable amount of grief they had to deal with before they could resume production. The Rock said the hardest part for him was imagining the pain Paul’s 15-year-old daughter, Meadow, experienced.
“The biggest pain I felt was for his family, his daughter,” he said.
The Walker family’s hurting has been exemplified by their current legal situation.
Paul’s mother, Cheryl Ann Walker, is in the process of petitioning for guardianship of her granddaughter Meadow—claiming the teen’s mother, Paul’s ex Rebecca Soteros, is an alcoholic.
By gaining guardianship, Cheryl believes she’s not only doing what’s best for her grandchild (who stands to inherit her father's multi-million dollar fortune), but also fulfilling her son’s last wish.

Reports have since come out saying Meadow was “disgusted” by her grandma’s decision to pursue guardianship, adding the decision “took everybody by surprise.”
Rebecca and Cheryl are set to face off in court today.
