Ever since Orlando Bloom arrived on the scene in action-packed roles for films like The Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Carribean, we couldn’t help but wonder if he was as charming and swoon-worthy as he appears on screen.
The short answer? Yes. Yes he is.
In a new interview with Elle, the real-life Romeo opens up about his love life and his similarities to the Shakespearian character he’s currently depicting on Broadway.
When Orlando was asked if he, like his character in Romeo and Juliet, believed in love at first sight, his answer was “totally.”
“I’m completely in love with the idea of love,” he gushed to Elle. “Maybe I’m all misty about it because I’m playing Romeo. But I really believe in, you know, that sort of heart-to-heart connection.”
Orlando said that he remembers the first time he saw his now ex-wife Miranda Kerr—and while it wasn’t necessarily love at first sight, it was “a lot of things.”
In late October, the couple called it quits after three years of marriage but have remained amicable for their son, Flynn.
Although, if Orlando does decide to look for love again, he doesn’t have to look very far; he revealed there are “a lot” of marriage proposals from strangers.
“The other night, I was outside the theater, and this girl said to me, ‘Oh, thank god I didn’t faint. The last time I saw you, I fainted and got 14 stitches,’” he explained. “She showed me a huge scar on her forehead. I felt terrible.”
