Meet Joe Wexler — an obese man who doesn’t understand why he weighs 770 pounds despite his “healthy” diet that has him eating an astonishing 10,000 calories per day!
The 31-year-old, who was featured on TLC’s My 600-lb. Life, confessed to eating “two full meals plus snacks,” and struggled to comprehend why he remained confined to his home and ineligible for weight-loss surgery.

He was shocked to learn his favorite foods — such as ranch dressing and ice cream — are high in fat, and not exactly ideal for dieting.
“Just about everything I eat is bad for me,” he lamented on the reality show. “I had no idea.”
But after a doctor warned that he was dangerously overweight — and, essentially, slowly killing himself, he realized he needed to make a change.
“I’ve been in and out of the hospital 10 times in the last nine months,” the Tennessee native explained. “I can’t go up and down the stairs. I can’t even get behind the steering wheel of a car anymore. I’ve been homebound and it’s very lonely.
“I feel like a prisoner inside this body. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. I am living the nightmare. One that I wish very much I could wake up from.”
Since receiving a wake-up call, Joe has already started to change his lifestyle. He recently went to the gym for the first time, and met with a nutritionist, who helped him establish a more balanced diet.
He has since dropped down to 652 pounds — and was approved for gastric bypass surgery, which he has undergone.
“Words can’t describe how I feel,” Joe said. “For the first time in a long time, I feel like I have hope.”
