We can’t imagine that anyone had a more difficult Valentine’s Day than Nik Richie.
The blogger had learned that his wife, former Bachelor contestant Shayne Lamas, suffered from a broken heart—literally. For the first time since his wife tragically suffered a miscarriage and slipped into a coma on Feb. 9, Nik, 32, has spoken out about the continued medical stress his wife faces.
“I’m still working from the ICU,” he wrote on his blog, TabRag. “This has been the toughest week of my life, but my love for Shayne Lamas has grown tremendously. My wife is a true fighter.”
On Feb. 9, Shayne, 28, was rushed to the hospital after collapsing at her LA home. Doctors determined that Shayne, who was 16 weeks pregnant with her second child at the time, was bleeding internally around her uterus, though doctors were unable to determine a cause.
Unfortunately, the baby was lost during the procedure and while it was reported at the time that she was in a coma, Nik has since stated this wasn’t the case—although she has since faced more medical difficulties.

“[Shayne’s] heart gave out on Valentine’s Day and we had to start the rehabilitation process all over again,” Nik noted on his blog. “Thank you to Dr. Marquez for saving Shayne’s life (again). Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers—they are working!”
He thanked other people assisting them during this time in need. But there was one person he is especially grateful for… Shayne.
“A special thank you for Shayne Lamas for not giving up,” he wrote on TabRag. “Press wants her mom back!”
Press is the couple’s 2-year-old daughter.
This is the first time Nik has opened up about the incident since last Monday, Feb. 10, when he announced on his adult site, TheDirty.com, that he planned to take a few days to himself.
“I’m going to take some personal days off from the blogging world,” he wrote at the time. “Unfortunate things happen to good people.”
Our thoughts are with Shayne and her loved ones during this difficult time.
