Nicki Minaj has opened up about having an abortion when she was just a teenager.
In an honest and emotional interview with 'Rolling Stone' magazine, she reveals she fell pregnant while dating an older guy from Queens while she was a student at performing-arts high school LaGuardia.
The decision to have an abortion is something that has affected the rest of her life.
"I thought I was going to die," she told Rolling Stone. "I was a teenager. It was the hardest thing I'd ever gone through.
"[It] has haunted me all my life. It’d be contradictory if I said I wasn’t pro-choice. I wasn’t ready. I didn’t have anything to offer a child."
The singer has alluded to having a child in several of her tracks, first in 'Autobiography' in 2008 when she referred to herself as "mommy", and more recently in the song 'All Things Go' from her new album.
Referring to a child who would have been 16, the same age as her younger brother Micaiah, she says, "My child with Aaron would have been 16, any minute. So in some ways I feel like Caiah is the both of them. It’s like he’s Caiah’s little angel, looking over him."
It is not known if "Aaron" is the older man she fell pregnant to from Queens.
