"We're just praying for her and hoping for the best," Nick told In Touch while at the IAMS So Good! event in NYC yesterday. "When someone's going through something like this, all you can do is be there for them."
Though Nick, 32, and Amanda, 27, last worked together years ago on the set of her Nick series The Amanda Show, Nick still thinks of his former colleague. He told In Touch that he last reached out to her within the last six weeks.
Since that last contact, Amanda stayed busy: she was arrested in NYC for allegedly throwing a bong out her window, then kicked out of a posh Manhattan hotel for smoking weed in her room and insulting a receptionist. After that, she went to her native California, where she was caught by the police after she set fire to a woman's driveway.
Amanda's mom, Lynn Bynes, tried to file papers to become her daughter's conservator, but a judge temporarily denied the request while Amanda is still in a health facility. Nick has nothing but good things to say about Amanda's parents, calling them "the nicest people in the world."
"I feel like she's getting help now," he adds. "That's all that really matters."
