At 800 pounds, Charity knows her obesity can potentially be fatal.
But now that she’s been hospitalized with flesh-eating bacteria and butterfly-shaped fat deposits, she’s learning to diet and practice portion control for the first time in her life — and she has the perfect motivation to make the change.

Not only is she fighting to stay alive, but so is her mother — and Charity hopes to lose enough weight to undergo surgery that’ll make her dream of visiting her sick mother a reality.
“I just want to make progress and do what I need to do to get surgery to get my life back,” the San Antonio, Texas resident explains on My 600-lb. Life.
“I worry about my mom — a big part of why I want to lose the weight is so I can go see her… My mom has brain cancer and she’s not going to be here much longer. I’m always afraid I’ll get the call that my mom is gone. I want to physically go see her, so I’m going to lose the weight to do that.”
