See the Red Carpet Arrivals at the MTV Movie & TV Awards — Before It Got Rained Out!

The show must go on — rain or shine!

Before the party even started, the red carpet at this year’s MTV Movie and TV Awards got rained out, sending stars like Noah Cyrus and Hailee Steinfeld fleeing from the rain and hail.

But besides the terrible weather, this year’s event also has something else new in store. Instead of just focusing on movies, the 24-year running award show has now opened up its categories to include television, too. That means this year’s red carpet was double packed, full of stars from both the film and TV world.

MUST SEE: Here’s How You Can Live Stream the MTV Movie & TV Awards 2017

Some of the new categories added to the show’s new format are Best Documentary, Best Reality Competition, and Best Hero. The show also did away with gendered categories, combining the Best Actor and Best Actress categories into one — you know, since it’s 2017.

Other radical changes to the show’s format? The show is adding a Next Generation category to highlight trending stars who aren’t quite mega celebs yet but are getting there. Actors in this category include This Is UsChrissy Metz and Insecure‘s Issa Rae.

But not everything is different this year. There are still some old favorites too, like Best Villain and, our absolute favorite category, Best Kiss. Last year, Rebel Wilson and Adam DeVine got into a full make-out session on stage, rolling around around on the floor in front of shocked viewers.

There’s no telling what this year’s nominees might do. Although a big part of us is hoping Zac Efron and Anna Kendrick win for their nominated kiss in Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates, we’re also partial to Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone winning for La La Land. Whatever happens, it’s sure to be memorable.
