Sarah Hyland has been granted a temporary restraining order against ex-boyfriend Matthew Prokop. He is now to stay at least 100 yards away from the star and her dog.
In new court documents obtained by TMZ, the Modern Family star claims he choked her, pushed her and threatened her life during the last four years of their relationship.
She also says actress Julie Bowen, who plays the star's mom on the ABC hit, witnessed the violence.
One scary incident took place back in May after the pair allegedly fought over her outfit. Sarah claims he called her "c--t, c--t, c--t" while choking her.
"His grip was so tight that I could not breathe or speak. I was scared and in fear for my life," the 23-year-old states in the legal papers, adding she suffered injuries to her voice. "[I had a] very sore throat following this event."
When she realized how abusive the relationship was, she asked Julie to come over and "peacefully end" it.
Sarah says she bought him a plane ticket back to his home state of Texas, but that didn't go over well. Upon returning to the actress' home, he saw Julie and others there waiting for him. The starlet claims he "ran outside into the backyard and began screaming."
Julie stepped in when she saw Matt throw a lighter at her co-star. She told Sarah to leave the property immediately because it was unsafe.
The docs also state he threatened to set one of Sarah's homes on fire, and that she'd never see her dog again after she broke up with him in August.
"[He] relentlessly bombarded me with vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voice mails including his own suicide threats," she states in the documents, according to TMZ.
Sarah says he entered a rehab facility that same month, but was contacted by the director of the center after the actor left on Sept. 21. He recommended she get a restraining order "due to [Matt's] mental state and attitude against her" and she followed through.
Reps for Matt have yet to comment.
