A family spokesperson has confirmed that a body found in a ravine near Seattle is that of actress Misty Upham. She was 32 years old.
The tragic news comes shortly after her family reported the August: Osage County actress as missing. According to family friend Tracy Rector, the late actress’s uncle, Robert Upham, organized a search party and discovered the body yesterday, Oct. 16. Her father Charles Upham later identified his daughter to the authorities.

While an official cause of death has yet to be determined, the Auburn Police Department has stated there is no “evidence or information to believe there is foul play.”
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter earlier this week, the bereaved father explained that Misty suffered from bipolar disorder and had recently changed her medication, leading him to believe that she could have been suicidal.
However, after discovering the late actress’s body, Rector said the family had a change of heart. “The family has stated that, after seeing the body, they no longer feel Misty Upham committed suicide.”
Since learning of her death, costars such as Juliette Lewis and Meryl Streep, who shared the screen with Misty in August: Osage County and Melissa Leo, offered their condolences to the mourning family.
In statement to THR, the three-time Oscar winner said, “So so sad to hear this news — all our thoughts are with her family and with her beautiful spirit,” Meryl wrote of the actress.
“Such a loss… So sad, so so sad,” her Frozen River co-star shared. “I hope that her talent is remembered more than any troubles we surely will never understand. She was a smart, delightful actor, a spirit wild and hungry. I know I and others are honored to have had Misty in our lives.”
