Was it her attitude or her performance of the Bob Marley song "Turn Your Lights Down Low" that saw American Idol hopeful Megan Joy Corkrey's lights extinguished on last night's show? After telling judge Simon Cowell she "didn't care" that he didn't like her song, Simon said he didn't care to have Megan stay in the competition and her final song would be a swan song. The judges would not be using their veto vote to save her. "I was happy to go the way I did," Megan said after being eliminated. "I just was honest. I just didn't care that Simon didn't like my song." Megan is ecstatic that she will be part of the American Idol summer tour, as that was her goal on the show, and even more thrilled to be reunited with her son. "It's been a few months now and way too long," she laughs. "I'm going to hold him for as long as I can."

"I didn't want people to misunderstand me"
You told Simon you didn't care about what he said - do you regret that now?
Megan: I have no regrets - ever. I wouldn't take anything back. I was happy to go the way I did. I just was honest and while I cared about the competition, I didn't want people to misunderstand me not caring - I just didn't care that Simon didn't like my song. I couldn't help but be honest.
Did knowing you wouldn't be singing to be saved by the judges make that last song easier?
Megan: It was easier for sure because I didn't care if I messed up. And I did. I could just flap around and be in their faces and sing right at them. As sad as I am to be leaving and be done with the show, there is a very big part of me that can't wait to see my son. It's been too long and I am ready to hold him in my arms again. Part of me is ready.
Simon seemed very supportive and may have been the reason you got picked as a wild card, then he became very critical. Why?
Megan: I think his opinion changed a little and he was pretty hard on me. I think he likes me as much as he did, but maybe just not for this competition. I have no beef with Simon and don't think he has any with me.
What was the deal with the wing flapping as you took your bottom three seat?
Megan: I love birds and bird noises, and I just decided that if I was going out, I was going out with a bang and be myself. I flew the whole time!
What do you think your reunion with your son will be like?
Megan: I am going to hold him for as long as he'll let me and try not to sob like a lunatic because he will just be confused and scared. It's going to be beautiful and I can't wait.
What are you looking forward to most about the tour?
Megan: Just being back with the gang - I'm really going to miss them. Everyone there is funny. Not one person is not tossing jokes into the mix. Allison was my roommate the whole time and from the minute we woke up, she made me laugh.
What did you learn during your time on Idol?
Megan: I learned there will always be negative people - haters, if you will - who try and bring you down. But you have to try and forget about them and move past them. Now, whatever life wants to introduce me to, I am down for anything. Voice-overs, as I love cartoons, and there are a few shows I would like to guest on. I want to dabble.
