When we think, “Mariah Carey,” two things come to mind: 1. Her diva reputation and 2. Her omnipresence during the holiday season thanks to her iconic song, “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”
All of that being said, are we really surprised she was a no-show to tape the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree lighting ceremony yesterday, Dec. 2?

TMZ reports the mother-of-two was so consumed with paperwork related to her divorce that she completely blew off the segment she was supposed to tape on Tuesday, suggesting their troubled relationship managed to kill the holiday spirit for the masses — even though her estranged husband, Nick Cannon, told ‘In Touch’ he and his wife will be spending Christmas together for the sake of their 3-year-old twins.

Meanwhile, another source says Mariah halted production because she was unwilling to perform in the rain. The insider explains, “She was concerned about it affecting her voice. The buzz on set was that Mariah eventually showed up in her car, but refused to get out of the car because of the weather.”

The 45-year-old has yet to explain why she was a no-show — though she promised her fans she will be taking the stage during tonight’s live broadcast.
“Last night’s situation was beyond my control. I apologize to all that showed up, you know that I would never want to disappoint you,” she tweeted. “I will be opening tonight’s live show in Rockefeller Center with ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’!!”
To see Mariah perform (hopefully), tune in to NBC tonight — Dec. 3 — at 8 p.m.!
