Hours after denying responsibility in the break-up of a lover’s marriage, Fantasia Barrino was hospitalized for an overdose on August 9 in her hometown of Charlotte, N.C. Though the police report classifies the health scare as a suicide attempt, the American Idol star’s manager has downplayed the incident. "Her injuries are not life-threatening. She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time," Brian Dickens said in a statement, adding that Fantasia had taken aspirin and a sleep aid the night in question. Last week, Paula Cook accused the single mother of engaging in a “covert adulterous affair” with her husband, Antwaun Cook, leading to the demise of their marriage. Fantasia vehemently denied any wrongdoing, claiming sometime-boyfriend Antwaun told her he separated from his wife in the summer of 2009. Despite the traumatic week, friends insist the “I Believe” singer will get through the heartbreak. "Fantasia is a fighter and a survivor. This is not the hardest thing Fantasia has endured," her manager said.
