Socialite and model Lydia Hearst is the latest star to come under fire for a breastfeeding photo.
Although her controversy is a little different than most; people are outraged because the twins she’s “nursing” in a provocative ad for Equinox aren’t her children — in fact, the 31-year-old is childless!

The photo of Lydia — best known as an heir to William Randolph Hearst’s publishing fortune and TV host Chris Hardwick’s fiancée — is part of the upscale gym’s “Commit to Something” campaign, which “celebrate[s] the attitude and merit of personal dedication.”
Even those who support the movement to destigmatize breastfeeding have commented on the unusual decision to feature a childless woman breastfeeding (the babies, she has since revealed, are actually dolls).

"There is nothing about this ad that shows natural breastfeeding. It is only meant to provoke. You should be ashamed of yourself,” one critic commented.
On Facebook, Lydia responded to the haters — and insisted that although she used dolls and doesn’t have children of her own, she’s still dedicated to normalizing breastfeeding and her intention was to show support for the movement.
