Fresh out of rehab, Lindsay Lohan opted to forego the temptations of a Los Angeles movie premiere and skipped the opening of her latest film, "The Canyons," which screened in West Hollywood on Tuesday night.
"Lindsay lives in a world of crisis. She was worried about being here, coming out of rehab and then being in LA for the weekend," director Paul Schrader said prior to the film's screening.
The actress, who has just completed a court-mandated 90-day rehab stint, still managed to cause some drama on the day of the big premiere.
"Of course she wakes up this morning and says she wants to.come," Schrader said. "That wasn't possible."
Lohan did text a message to the cast and crew. It was read out loud by the film's producer Braxton Pope.
"I wanted to thank everyone for believing in me and for their support. And please make sure Paul doesn't get naked again," Lohan texted.
Lindsay is expected to make an appearance at the flick's launch at the Venice Film Festival later this month. According to Schrader she will be bringing a special guest.
"She will come with her sober companion," Schrader said. "We are all rooting for her."
