Teen Mom 2 star Leah Messer is speaking out for the first time since In Touch exclusively revealed she lost custody of her five-year-old twins, Ali and Aleeah.
“It was like a slap in the face,” she tells Us Weekly of learning her ex-husband was granted primary custody of their daughters.

Per the custody agreement, the mother-of-three, 23, will have the girls on the weekends while their dad, Corey Simms, 26, will have them during the week.
The decision came shortly after Corey accused Leah of not getting the girls to kindergarten on time.

The reality star says she fought the claims — by meeting with the superintendent and showing time-stamped pictures that prove the girls were not tardy— and the school now plans to remove the marks from the girls’ records.
Now, she’s hoping to move forward in her fight and hopes to soon share 50/50 custody with her ex-husband.

“I feel like they should have both of us in their lives,” she says.
“At the end of the day, my kids are going to be happy, and I don’t care what I have to do to make them happy.”
