When Glee star Cory Monteith died suddenly last weekend at the age of 31, his girlfriend and costar Lea Michele was noticeably absent from social media. The grieving actress, 26, released a statement through her rep asking for privacy. But In Touch can confirm that not only were the couple stronger than ever when Cory died unexpectedly in a Vancouver hotel room, they'd even been talking about marriage and kids.
"Lea was determined and convinced Cory was clean and they were going to marry and have kids one day," a friend of Lea's tells In Touch, adding: "She thought rehab helped and he told her there was no way he was doing drugs ever again. There was no one else for Lea but Cory. She was so in love with him."

Adding another level of sadness to the story is that Lea and Cory's characters, Rachel and Finn, were also paired romantically on Glee. As one of the show's central couples, they went through ups and downs but always loved each other. The same can be said of Lea and Cory, who stuck together during Cory's substance issues and his recent rehab stay.
"Lea and Cory had not been fighting or anything while he was in Canada," Lea's friend says. "Their relationship was all going well and they were 100% together. This is so hard for her to accept. She talked to him before she went to sleep and he was dead the next day. She can't believe it."

Hopefully, Lea will have a lot of friends and coworkers to support her during this tough time. Costar Matthew Morrison recently dedicated the song "What I Did for Love," which Lea and Cory sang together on Glee, to his deceased friend, and other cast members have gone on Twitter to share their condolences.

Glee's fifth season is set to begin filming soon. So far, the show's creator Ryan Murphy has not revealed what will happen to Cory's character or whether the actor's death will be incorporated into a storyline.
