In the wake of Robin Williams’ death by suicide, many people are engaged in a healthy conversation about mental health, depression and addiction.

And while the global community is reaching out and supporting one another, it appears not everyone got the memo—as recent comments made by KISS rocker Gene Simmons have surfaced, proving the stigma around mental health still exists.

Todd Bridges Apologizes For Calling Robin Williams’ Death “Selfish”

“I don’t get along with anybody who’s a drug addict and has a dark cloud over their head and sees themselves as a victim,” he said when asked if he still gets along with his original KISS bandmates.

“Drug addicts and alcoholics are always, ‘The world is a harsh place.’ My mother was in a concentration camp in Nazi Germany. I don’t want to hear f--k all about ‘the world is a harsh place.’ She gets up every day, smells the roses and loves life.

“And for a putz, 20-year-old to say, ‘I’m depressed, I live in Seattle.’ F--k you, then kill yourself. I never understand, because I always call them on their bluff. I’m the guy who says, ‘Jump!’ when there’s a guy on top of a building who says, ‘That’s it, I can’t take it anymore, I’m going to jump.”

Even though his comments were made on July 31—shortly before Robin’s untimely death—he mourned the comedian with a since-deleted tweet that said, “R.I.P. Robin Williams. A kind and generous man.”

Still, fans called out Gene for his recent offensive comments. One person tweeted, “He followed your advice and killed himself. Impressed with yourself yet? Depression is real and you’re a d-ck.”

Also among those blasting the 64-year-old rocker is Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx.

“I struggled with addiction and depression but found recovery. Would you be happy if I killed myself instead? Also my 4 kids wouldn’t been [sic] born,” he tweeted. “I wonder if [Gene] would still say how depressed people or addicts should kill themselves if it happened to his wife or kids?
