Two years ago today, Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in her Paris hotel room. And now, the reality star’s former bodyguard, Pascal Duvier, and the company he worked for, Protect Security, are being sued for $6.1 million. This is the amount the insurance company paid Kim for her stolen jewelry after the terrifying incident on Oct. 3, 2016.

To be clear, Kim, 37, is not suing. The insurance company, AIG, filed the lawsuit and is now going after the “individual and company it believes were negligent and caused the robbery.” The lawsuit claims that if the security was up to par, the masked gunmen wouldn’t be allowed to enter the hotel or make their way up to Kim’s room, where she was tied up and gagged. The concierge, who unlocked Kim’s door while being held at gunpoint, was also called out for not having any security training, but neither him or the hotel are being sued.

Pascal reportedly followed Kim’s sisters Kourtney Kardashian, 39, and Kendall Jenner, 22, to a club, leaving the reality star with no protection at the No Address Hotel during Paris Fashion Week. There were several red flags that the bodyguard should have noticed according to the lawsuit, including a missing lock on the front gate to the courtyard of the hotel. On top of that, the intercom was supposedly not functioning. After the frightening ordeal, Kim fled Paris to rejoin Kanye West in New York, but it left a lasting impact on her.

“The guy came in, grabbed the phone from me, threw me on the bed and I was like, ‘This is it,’” Kim said while talking about her robbery on an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians in 2017. The reality star also explained why she decided to talk about her experience. “I thought it was important to share this story through my eyes and not in an interview where my own words could be twisted,” she tweeted at the time. “I have always shared so much and I’m not going to hold back when this was probably one of the most life-changing experiences for me.” We’re glad to see her doing better today.
