Singer Ke$ha has announced that she has checked herself into rehab to deal with an eating disorder.
The "Tik Tok" singer released a statement before entering the program: " I'm a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself, but I've found it hard to practice. I'll be unavailable for the next 30 days, seeking treatment for my eating disorder... to learn to love myself again, exactly as I am."
The 26-year-old has always been open with her fans, who are called Animals, about her body and self-esteem issues.
"I went through chubby, awkward, total weirdo phases," the Tennessee-born singer said. "I was never the cool kid. I was never hot in high school. I was never popular. You don't have to be perfect and you don't have to be rich and you can still be successful."
Her latest video, "Dirty Love," was released on New Year's Eve. The rehab program lasts for 30 days.
