Katie Couric may be
out of a job

There was much fanfare when Katie Couric left Today to helm the top slot at CBS Evening News in June 2006 — not to mention a hefty pay increase, to roughly $15 million per year. But not even two years into her five-year contract, continuously sagging ratings may mean the end of the road as the CBS Evening News anchor for Katie, reports The Wall Street Journal, in a story that suggests she may be let go soon after the next presidential inauguration. One theory is that she could go on to replace Larry King on CNN when his contract is up next year. Meanwhile, daytime TV fans would surely love to have her back to usher in each new morning. Hint, hint.
