Things Kanye is good at (according to Kanye): music, fashion, parenting.
Things Kanye isn’t good at (according to us): Modesty.
Yeezy did an interview with BBC 1 Radio and he got candid—in the way that only Kanye can do!
He explained that he knows how to make things perfect, but perfection isn’t necessarily what he’s trying to achieve; rather, his goal is to “crack the pavement and make new grounds—sonically and culturally.”
“We culture,” he said. “Rap is the new rock ‘n roll. We the rock stars and I’m the biggest of all of them. I’m the No. 1 rock star on the planet.”
He added that he’s reaching new limits—such as one that even the King of Pop Michael Jackson didn’t reach—but it’s holding him back.
“I’ve got to a point that Michael Jackson did not break down,” he told BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe. “I have reached the glass ceiling as a creative people, as a celebrity.”
One person who has achieved at the end of the day? Pal Jay Z, who Kanye said is “more realized” than he is.
At the end of the day, Kanye is just trying to share the thing he loves most in the world: Himself.
“You don’t realize, I’m so frustrated,” he said. “Like I’ve got so much I want to give … and a million people telling me why I can’t do it.”
