Kanye West is making history at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. 
 
 
It was announced today that the 36-year-old rapper will perform for his seventh time at the VMAs, tying Madonna for the most number of performances at the acclaimed award show. 
 
The Yeezus star will be performing his hit song “Blkkk Skkn Head” at the award show, which is being held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
 
Kanye first performed at the VMAs in 2004 with a medley of singles from his debut album The College Dropout, including “Through The Wire,” “Jesus Walks,” and “All Falls Down”. 
 
 
In 2011, Kanye performed “Otis” with Jay Z at the VMAs.
 
The rapper will be joining previously announced VMA performer Lady Gaga, who will perform a new single from her highly anticipated upcoming fourth studio album ARTPOP.  Additional 2013 MTV VMA performers will be announced at a later date.
 
Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead the pack with six nominations each. They will be going head to head in the Video of the Year Category. J.T.’s “Mirrors” and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ video for “Thrift Shop” are both nominated for awards.
 
Other nominees include Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Bruno Mars, Pink, Lana Del Rey, among many other artists.
 
 
The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards will air live on Sunday, August 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
