On last night’s episode of Teen Mom 2 fans grew concerned for Kailyn Lowry‘s health. The reality star mama revealed that she may be preeclamptic — in other words, she was showing signs of a potentially dangerous condition that could harm both her as well as her unborn child — who has been born since the episode was filmed. Learn more about preeclampsia below, plus find out whether or not Kail suffered from the condition.

What is preeclampsia?

According to WebMD, preeclampsia is “a condition that pregnant women develop, which is marked by high blood pressure in women who have previously not experienced high blood pressure before. Preeclamptic women will have a high level of protein in their urine and often also have swelling in the feet, legs, and hands. This condition usually appears late in pregnancy, generally after the 20 week mark, although it can occur earlier. If undiagnosed, preeclampsia can lead to eclampsia, a serious condition that can put you and your baby at risk, and in rare cases, cause death.”

While on vacation in St. Thomas with her sons Isaac, 7, and Lincoln, 3, back in June — about a month before her due date — Kailyn’s feet, face, and hands swelled to the point where doctors were concerned.

Does Kailyn have preeclampsia?

However, after spending the day in the hospital while one of the Teen Mom producers looked after her sons, she was told she was not preeclamptic.

Did Kailyn have her baby yet?

If she didn’t, that would be concerning! The 25-year-old gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Lux Russell — who she shares with ex-boyfriend Chris Lopezhttps://www.intouchweekly.com/tags/chris-lopez-43638 — on Aug. 5, 2017. In an interview with In Touch exclusively last week, she dished on the inspiration behind the name she finally chose — after nearly two months without one. “I love the name. It was definitely one of the ones I liked before, I was just kind of waiting for Chris to give me the okay and then at some point I was just like, ‘I’m going to do this. I’m naming the baby myself because this is taking too long.'” Go, girl!
