It’s no secret that Kailyn Lowry and Javi Marroquin from Teen Mom 2 have an interesting relationship — and the blonde beauty just exclusively opened up to In Touch about where they stand today. Fans of the MTV reality series know the former couple called it quits back in 2016, and today, they do their best to stay on good terms to co-parent their four-year-old son, Lincoln.
“Javi and I have the weirdest co-parenting relationship. It’s up and down and nobody could possibly understand it. Not from TV. Not from a podcast. It’s just that,” Kailyn says, adding they “never said they were getting back together,” despite reports. Kailyn and Javi — who serves in the United States Air Force — even attempted to work through some of their issues on We TV’s Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars during Season 9.
The TV personalities confirmed their split in May 2016 after four years of marriage and their divorce was finalized in December of that year. Javi then went on to date Cassie Bucka, Madison Channing Walls, and fellow Teen Mom 2 star Briana DeJesus — while Kail had her third son, Lux, with her ex Chris Lopez over the summer and also dated Dominique Potter. She also shares an eight-year-old son, Isaac, with her ex Jo Rivera.
Javi recently rushed to the mother-of-three’s defense when a Teen Mom fan called her “mean,” during MTV’s Being Javi special. “I see she does have my back through it all and I need to do the same for her,” he shared. The father-of-one also publicly apologized to the mother of his child after he split from Briana earlier this month.
“At the end of the day a good relationship with my sons mother will make Lincoln the happiest. I lost sight of that. This trip made me realize that and I’ve apologized to Kail for my actions,” he tweeted at the time.
