Justin Timberlake: His
Future Album & Our
Favorite Songs of The
Past

Splash

After six long years, Justin Timberlake is finally returning to the music scene... and we couldn't be happier!

“To whom it may concern…I think I’M READY! #JT2013” the 31-year-old tweeted on Jan. 10, along with a link to a video which shows the singer in a recording studio.

Since releasing 2006’s FutureSex/LoveSounds, Justin’s been busy making his mark in film, but now, he’s returning to where it all started.

And because we’re just too excited for the day to come, we’ve decided to share our favorite JT songs in the meantime:

Like I Love You (2002)
Goodbye, ‘N Sync! The singer put his boy band days behind and made this the first single off his solo album Justified — which showed off Justin’s R&B side. “I really didn’t try to make an effort to make urban music but I am a product of my inspirations,” he shares.

Cry Me a River (2002)
Burn! The second single off his solo album was inspired by JT’s failed relationship with Britney Spears! “I was on a phone call that was not the most enjoyable phone call,” he recalls. “I walked into the studio and Timbaland could tell I was visibly angry”. The track reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and gave Timberlake his first Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance!

Rock Your Body (2003)
Aside from Justin’s sexy vocals, the catchy song became most popular due to the controversy surrounding his performance with Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl in 2004.  Janet’s infamous wardrobe malfunction perfectly timed with the song’s line “Bet I’ll have you naked by the end of this song.”

SexyBack (2006)
After nearly four years of waiting for a new album, JT didn’t disappoint when he released "SexyBack" as the first single off his second solo album FutureSex/LoveSounds. “I wanted to sing the song like a rock and roll singer, not an R&B singer. That’s the approach,” Justin noted about the new and edgier sound. Not only was it his first song to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, but it also gave him his second Grammy for Best Dance Recording.

My Love (2006)
Beatboxing, a slow beat, JT on vocals, and rapper T.I. featured on the track — what’s not to love? The song, which Justin says took “two hours to imagine and execute” was his second consecutive single to make hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

What Goes Around… Comes Around (2007)
Though he hasn’t admitted it’s about ex-girlfriend Britney, many fans and critics think it’s a sequel to 2002’s "Cry Me a River." However, Justin says that the single is about betrayal and forgiveness—and was written for an experience one of his friends went through. It was his third consecutive No. 1 hit — and he even managed to get the gorgeous Scarlett Johansson to costar in the vid!
