Despite the introduction of a new rule this season, where the judges can save a contestant marked for elimination after the nationwide vote, American Idol's top 13 has now become 11. On last night’s elimination episode, the judges chose not to use their one-time elimination veto and save Jasmine Murray and Jorge Nuñez. Both hopefuls are now out of the competition.
"It's okay," admits Jorge. "There is nothing to feel sad about. I made top 13 of 100,000 people and believe this is just the start of something bigger. You will see more of me."
Fellow eliminated contestant Jasmine echo's his thoughts. "Just being able to perform on that stage, that is what it's all about," she says, adding, "singing and showing what you can do is so rewarding. I feel I really did that and am so happy to have been able to."

"Things are going to be great for me"
Will you go back to college and finish your law degree, or is it music for you now?
This show is so amazing and I have gotten so much exposure - I am going to do both. I'm going to finish college, but will keep going with music. Music is a priority now.
Did the judges give you any words of encouragement afterwards?
Yeah, they did encourage us both to keep going. I think the most important thing I have now is God and I know it's going to be great.
What did you learn on Idol?
I learned that being a singer ... it's more about staying true to who you are and no matter what other people might think, everyone has a different opinion. In the end it's about who the person thinks he is and what he wants. I kept that integrity throughout the show. I picked what I wanted to sing and have no regrets.
Have you heard from Marc Anthony and J. Lo again, we know they loved you?
Well, up to now, no I have not heard anything else from them. But I am pretty sure that was a sign things are going to be great for me.
Were you hurt the judges didn't save you and what did you think of the new rule?
I wasn't hurt. I believe a person should not have any excuses and when something happens it's because it was meant to be. I took it like a man and this is just the start of something much bigger. With the new rule we were all wondering what it might be. I imagined it would be something like that, and think it's a good thing. There have been people that haven't won and should have gone further and think this will help them out in the end.

"I'm happy to be going home, just not so soon."
Did you get any feedback from the judges after the show?
I did, they were really encouraging and just said to keep going. They are really so nice, and to definitely keep singing and pursing my dreams. I'm going to finish high school first and go to college, definitely, and then pursue music. I really want a career, this is where my heart is.
Did you think the new rule might have saved you?
Well, you never know in this competition. Even getting picked for the wild card was just unbelievable. You always have to have hope and faith and believe that it could happen. They could have said yes, but they didn't and that is okay. I understand. Maybe they know who they want for the competition and they wanted to save it. So it's okay with me. I think it's great they are giving people extra chances.
Do you think the rule change undermines America's decision on who should go, and might hurt the show?
I don't think so. I mean the judges put us all there in the first place, and America has decided the total outcome in a way. I think it's a good idea the judges are getting to increase the numbers to a top 36 and the wild card and now the save ... It's great they get to have more of a part in it, too.
What are you going to miss most about the awesome new mansion you were living in?
I didn't get to use the bowling alley much, but probably the practice room. We had this big spacious area in the house with wonderful acoustics and keyboard. Just the good stuff down there for us to practice with - I used to go down there all the time and work on my songs. I will miss that part of the house.
You had a lot of support from your fellow students, are you exited to see them all again?
That meant a lot to me, I missed my friends so much and am so glad they supported me. When I get back to school I am just going to be happy to see them, talk and catch up on what's been going on. I am excited and I'm happy to be going home, just not so soon.
