What goes around comes around, and it looks like Taylor Swift is finally getting a taste of her own medicine.
In John Mayer’s new single “Paper Doll,” it appears that the 35-year-old rocker is getting revenge and targeting his former flame!
In “Paper Doll”, John sings: "Cause you’re like 22 girls in one / And none of them know what they’re runnin’ from/ Was it just too far to fall? / For a little paper doll / Cut the cord and pull some strings / And make yourself some angel wings/ And if those angel wings don’t fly / Someone’s gonna paint you another sky."
In 2010, Taylor released a song titled “Dear John” on her album Speak Now, which was allegedly inspired by her failed relationship with the "Say" singer.
In the tune, Taylor croons: "You paint me a blue sky and go back and turn it to rain/ And I lived in your chess game, but you changed the rules everyday."
It just happens to be a coincidence that John is singing about someone painting another sky, right? Let’s also not forget to mention Swift just released a new single titled “22”.
But Taylor's failed relationship with John wasn't the first time she used love gone wrong as a muse for her songs. Most of her chart toppers have been based on her former relationships with celebrities like Jake Gyllenhaal, Cory Monteith, Joe Jonas and Taylor Lautner to name a few.
Though John has remained mum about the inspiration behind his new tune, "Paper Doll" is definitely sparking interest in the media.
