John Mayer made a fan's day when he bought her a brand-new guitar. The singer, whose new album Paradise Valley comes out next month, was in an NYC music shop with girlfriend Katy Perry when he encountered one of his fans, 16-year-old Julie Fermin. Julie told her idol that she really wanted one of the store's pricey guitars but couldn't afford it, so the singer decided to buy it for her. "I started crying and screaming," Julie said. "I cannot describe all the emotions I felt at that moment. I just knew I was the luckiest and happiest person alive."
John's good deed is just the latest in a string of moves that are helping improve his image. In the past, he got heat for making public comments about ex-girlfriends like Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson, and Taylor Swift reportedly wrote the song "Dear John" about his shabby treatment of her.
