Rest in peace, Joey Feek.
The country star died at age 40 on Friday, March 4 in her hometown of Alexandria, Ind. after battling terminal cancer, her husband, Rory Feek, confirmed on his blog, This Life I Live.
"She is in Heaven. The cancer is gone. The pain has ceased. And all her tears are dry," Rory, 50, wrote in his emotional blog post, adding his wife passed away peacefully at 2:30 p.m. on Friday surrounded by friends and family.

"Though this is, and has been, a time of many tears of sorrow, it has also been a time of countless tears of joy. There have been too many beautiful moments to count or even begin to share... But I try," he continued.

"When a person has been through as much pain and struggle as Joey's been through, you just want it to be over. You want them to not have to hurt anymore, more that you want them to stay with you. And so, it makes the hard job of saying goodbye just a little easier," Rory wrote.

Joey was previously diagnosed with cervical cancer in May 2014. Though the singer underwent multiple surgeries (including a radical hysterectomy) and received both chemotherapy and radiation while fighting the disease, an October 2015 CT scan sadly revealed Joey's cancer had aggressively spread throughout her body. One month later, she entered hospice care in her Indiana hometown.

Joey and Rory — who performed together as the country and gospel duo Joey + Rory — married in June 2002 just two months after they first met. The couple has a daughter, Indiana, 2, together. Rory is also a father to two older daughters, Heidi, 29, and Hopie, 27, from a previous relationship.
