He recently opened up about how sobriety is “very close to [his] heart,” at a screening for ‘The Resurrection of Jake the Snake,’ a documentary about pro wrestler dubbed “Jake the Snake” and his own battle with addiction.

Joe Manganiello

The hunky actor first opened up about his alcohol abuse problem in his book, ‘Evolution: The Cutting Edge Guide to Breaking Down Mental Walls and Building the Body You’ve Always Wanted.’

In 2013, he told ‘HuffPost Live,’ “There was a period of about four years where I needed to quit drinking. And the drinking got in the way [of my career]. And I talk about that a lot in the book. It was one of those obstacles that I had to get over and once again I needed to clear the road in order for these things to happen, so it really is an inside job. I had to clean up my act and figure that whole situation out… My life was ruined. I was homeless, careless and broke with no career, so yes, it was worth it [to get sober].”

Daniel Radcliffe

The dark arts are nothing compared to the demons the ‘Harry Potter’ star fought in his personal life.

He told ‘ShortList’ magazine in 2012, “Seriously, in the last three years of drinking I blacked out nearly every time. Blacking out was my thing. The drinking was unhealthy and damaging to my body and my social life. That’s beyond question.

“I was living in constant fear of who I’d meet, what I might have said to them, what I might have done with them, so I’d stay in my apartment for days and drink alone. I was a recluse at 20. It was pathetic — it wasn’t me. I’m a fun, polite person and it turned me into a rude bore. For a long time people were saying to me, ‘We think you have a problem,’ but in the end I had to come to the realization myself.”

Jada Pinkett Smith

In 2005, the actress celebrated eight years of sobriety and opened up about the moment she knew she had to change her lifestyle.

“I found myself drinking two bottles of wine on the couch and I said, ‘Jada, I think we’ve got a problem here,’” she confessed at the time.

“I had problems with alcohol and I really had to get in contact with the pain, whatever that is, and then I had to get some other tools in how to deal with the pain. From that day on, I went cold turkey.”

Bradley Cooper

The Oscar nominee turned his life around when he realized he was putting his career and personal life at risk. In 2013, he told ‘GQ,’ “If I continued, I was really going to sabotage my whole life.”

After having the realization in 2005, he’s been clean ever since.

Eva Mendes

The 41-year-old actress found herself in rehab when her drinking spiraled out of control in 2008.

That same year, she gave an interview and commented on how backwards she thought it was that a fellow actress joked about “having a whole career without making it to rehab!”

“I thought, that’s such a negative twist on it. I’m proud of people who have the determination and the fearlessness to actually go and face their demons and get better,” she told ‘Interview’ magazine. “This is a life or death situation.”

Melanie Griffith

February 2015 marked five years of sobriety for the mom-of-three.

She opened up about her battle — and her stint in rehab — to ‘AARP Magazine’ in 2011.

“I started on pain pills when I hurt my knee skiing and just kept taking them. The kids knew; Dakota and Stella called me on it. Antonio was in London at the time,” she confessed.

“I went away to rehab for three months; it took 10 days just to detox. We had two family weeks there, but we didn’t follow through. Antonio was supportive to the extent that he can be, but if you’re not an alcoholic or drug addict, and you find out your wife is a bad one, it’s hard to deal with.”

Rob Lowe

In 2011, the ‘Parks and Rec’ actor opened up about how his younger years and how he found himself getting help when he came to the realization he couldn’t have “just one drink.”

Fortunately, rehab was a positive, rewarding experience — describing it in his memoir as “one of the most exhilarating, liberating and exciting four weeks of my life.”

He went on to tell Piers Morgan, “It was great. I loved it. Because I was ready. Problem is, people go into rehab and they’re not ready. You want to get sober for your parents, you want to get sober for your job, you want to get sober for the cops, you want to get sober to protect your image.

“A lot of good reasons, by the way, but unfortunately, the only thing that works is that you have to want to get sober for you. So, I was ready.”
