He’s a natural! Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard‘s oldest son, Israel, 2, showed off his camera skills earlier this week, and we’re impressed! “When your two-year-old gets ahold of your phone and decides to take pics of his little brother haha,” Jill wrote in a caption of the photo posted to Instagram. Watch the video below to see the pic!

Although most people had positive things to say about the photo — for once! — the same can’t be said for her husband. On Christmas Eve, the 28-year-old snapped a seemingly innocent shot of himself reading the Bible to Israel and his five-month-old son, Samuel, but it wasn’t met with the same remarks. “Kids like kid’s books, not old-fashioned text,” one person wrote. “Fine if you want to read them the nativity story, but at least do it in a format that they understand. Kids like pictures.” A second added, “What a boring story for a kid.”

Others, however, came to Derick’s defense. “I’m not really a religious person. Most normal, everyday, average people I know DO read the Christmas story out of the Bible on Christmas to their children and some not even really religious people do also. There is nothing abnormal about this and how they read the Christmas story [on] Christmas Eve. I am sure the Duggars have children’s books as well but to come to someone’s page and tell them how to raise their children — takes much gall. Wow.” A second commented, “We have been doing that same tradition since we became parents also. Merry Christmas!”

Unfortunately, this isn’t the 28-year-old’s first rodeo when it comes to controversy. Earlier this month, the TLC alum was accused of using the money he raised for a new ministry on dinner, and people weren’t holding back their opinions. “Did y’all pay for that with your GoFundMe money?” one person wrote in the comment section. Another added, “These people supposedly have money from the show, so why start a GoFundMe page?” A third quipped, “Are you sure you should be eating out? A homosexual may have made the sundae or own the restaurant.”

In November, it was revealed that Derick was fired from Counting On due to his transphobic comments about fellow TLC star Jazz Jennings. On Dec. 18, the controversial reality star confirmed that his wife would also be stepping back from the show. When someone asked on Twitter, “So you guys aren’t on the show anymore?!” Derick replied bluntly, “Correct.” Well, at least we can still see their cute kids on Instagram!
