Eight weeks and counting!
That’s how long Jill Dillard (née Duggar) waited to announce that she and husband Derick were expecting their first child, having conceived just two weeks after their June 21 wedding.
Some people were critical of their decision to share the happy news so early in her pregnancy—but now the 23-year-old is defending her decision.
Aww!: Jill Duggar, Derick Dillard Share Adorable Pregnancy Pictures!
“Understanding that the majority of miscarriages happen within the first trimester, and believing that every life is precious no matter how young, we decided to share our joyful news as soon as we could,” the mom-to-be explained.
Of course, Jill is well educated on the subject. Not only does she have plenty of experience with pregnancy because of her mom’s pregnancies, but she’s also a trained mid-wife.
The issue hits especially close to home for the 19 Kids and Counting star, as Duggar matriarch Michelle suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage with her twentieth child. She and husband Jim Bob named the baby Jubilee.
And she’s not the only Duggar girl with babies on the brain!
Her younger sister, Jessa, who recently became engaged to Ben Seewald, shared her plans to start a family of her own (after her November wedding, of course…).
“Whatever God’s plan is, we’d be good with that!” the wife-to-be told ABC News when asked how many children she and Ben wanted.
“It’s probably not possible for me to have 19 kids naturally, but we might adopt and get up to that number. We both love kids. We’ll play it by year as we go along. We’ll see how it goes!”
