Duggar family fans will not be able to count on Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard to star on Season 7 of TLC's Counting On! Last year, Derick was fired from his job as a cast member on the hit 19 Kids and Counting spin-off after he repeatedly spewed his controversial views about transgender people on social media — and in turn, said some very mean things about his fellow TLC star, Jazz Jennings — and now the couple has been left off of a promotional photo that is advertising the upcoming season.
"30 days until #CountingOn returns!!" read the caption of the photo, which was shared on the Duggar family's official Facebook page. In the photo, couples Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald, Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth, and Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo were all featured, except Jill and Derick.
Fans took to the comments to express their opinion on Jill and Derick's absence from the photo and many of them felt that it was unfair that they were being punished for their religious beliefs. "Utterly ridiculous that TLC removed Jill [and] Derick everyone is entitled to free speech. We may not agree but still no reason to remove them from the show!!" one fan wrote.
Meanwhile, another commented, "You can believe multiple spouses are fine and get a show on TLC. You can believe it is fine for a boy to live as a girl and have a show on TLC. You CANNOT voice your deeply held beliefs based on Biblical principles and remain on a show on TLC."
Yikes. To be clear, it seems like the problem didn't lie with Derick's anti-trans beliefs but it's the way he chose to voice those beliefs, which came off as hateful. Derick also seems to agree with his fans that he was unjustly fired because earlier this month, he replied to a fan on Instagram and wrote, "My view is no different than most Americans, but I just mentioned it."
