Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson welcomed guests to the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, CA., for their big wedding day in the most patriotic way possible -- a 4th of July bash.
Last night, guests, likely including Jessica's sister Ashlee and best friend CaCee Cobb, enjoyed festivities before today's highly anticipated black tie wedding, which is expected to draw around 70 guests.
"We’re having a real Americana 4th of July party," celebrity event planner Mindy Weiss, who organized the stars-and-stripes-themed gathering, said of the event. "It’s very down home. But it’s not a T-shirt and jeans Americana. Because Eric’s from Boston, it’s more khakis and white shirts. Very Kennedy!"
She also told People that the pre-wedding party includes a cocktail hour with passed appetizers including lobster dogs and corn fritters, plus a shellfish station.
"Jessica didn’t want her guests to miss out on the 4th of July," Mindy added. "That’s who they are. Their No. 1 concern is for their guests coming all this way for the wedding."
