Looks like Jill and Jessa Duggar will be coming soon to a TV near you after all!
Just months after TLC canceled their family’s reality show, 19 Kids and Counting, the Associated Press reports the sisters will return to the small screen with “two or more” specials for the channel.

According to the AP, production will begin soon on the first program, which will ideally air sometime before the end of the year. Additionally, the network says we can expect “two or three” programs from the sisters.
A production source claims their oldest brother Josh — who is currently in rehab after he confessed to cheating on his wife — will not be involved, nor will he appear on any forthcoming programming.

Instead, it will be focused on Jessa and Jill’s growing families with their respective husbands, Ben Seewald and Derick Dillard.
“What we will be following in these specials is Jessa preparing for her first child and we’ll be watching Jill preparing to make a major move to Central America, which we know is something our audience will be interested in,” Nancy Daniels — TLC Executive Vice President and General Manager — tells the AP.

She continues, “We know that our audience is really excited about what’s going on with Jill and Jessa as they move into young adulthood. And now they’re both at the precipice of big changes. With what was happening in their lives in the next few months, it felt like now is the time, and we got going pretty quickly.”

The forthcoming specials will follow a documentary — featuring the sisters and commissioned by TLC — about child sexual abuse.
The issue is personal for Jessa and Jill, as it was revealed they were molested by their brother, Josh, when he was a teenager.
“They thought it was an important issue, and they showed an incredible amount of courage in sharing their story,” Ms. Daniels says.

The Duggar family shared their excitement for their upcoming specials on their official Facebook page.
“We appreciate all the prayers for our family. God has drawn us closer to Him and to each other this summer,” they wrote.
“We are grateful that the new TLC specials set to air this fall will be sharing special moments with Jill, Derick and Israel on the foreign mission field and following Ben and Jessa as they prepare for the arrival of their first baby!”
