Jessa Duggar Gets Mommy-Shamed (Again) for Letting Her One-Year-Old Play With a Fireplace
I’m not a parent myself, but I can imagine looking after two children under the age of two is pretty stressful. That being said, Counting On fans couldn’t help but be like “WTF” when Jessa Duggar took to Instagram to share a sweet video of her son, Spurgeon, 2, reading while her youngest son, Henry — who just celebrated his first birthday on Feb. 6 — played with a fireplace in the background. Watch the video below to see people’s reactions!
Unfortunately, the 25-year-old is no stranger to being called out for her parenting skills. Last week, she was mommy-shamed for allowing Henry to chew on the tag of a toy — and Instagram users were quick to remind the reality star that her tot could’ve easily choked on the paper. Just days earlier, followers criticized the brunette beauty for “letting” Spurgeon drop his dad Ben Seewald‘s phone into the toilet.
One annoyed user wrote, “I’m just sending out a warning that it takes 10 seconds for a child to drowned [sic] in a toilet and I know this from personal experience so yes if he was allowed to be in there with the toilet seat open [un]attended that they didn’t know what he was doing I feel the need to give a fair warning.” But others came to the young mom’s defense. “No one said he wasn’t supervised. My son threw my phone in the toilet with me in the bathroom with him. Toddlers are fast!” one supporter reasoned.
Soon we’ll be seeing more of this family — and Jessa’s other siblings — when the highly-anticipated new season of Counting On returns to TLC on Monday, Feb. 26. Just don’t expect to see her sister Jill Duggar and husband Derick Dillard! The reality TV exile was fired for making anti-trans comments about Jazz Jennings.
