Failing brakes are usually the storyline for a soap opera, not a sitcom, but funnyman Jerry Seinfeld unfortunately got into a rollover wreck when the brakes on his vintage 1967 Fiat BTM stopped working on Saturday evening. He was driving alone in East Hampton, N.Y., when the brakes (including the emergency brake) failed. Jerry swerved to keep the car from heading into an intersection. The two-door sedan flipped over and stopped just yards from the highway. Police Chief Todd Sarris told the New York Post that Jerry's quick driving skills "probably avoided a very serious accident." Jerry walked away unhurt from the accident. "He was a little shocked when he walked in and it started to dawn on him what happened," said his wife, Jessica. But the comic was able to put his own spin on it. "Because I know there are kids out there, I want to make sure they all know that driving without braking is not something I recommend, unless you have professional clown training or a comedy background as I do," said Jerry. "It is not something I plan to make a habit of."
