It has been an upsetting week for the Glee family following the tragic death of co-star Cory Monteith.
Over the past few days, Glee stars Jane Lynch, Diana Agron, and Darren Criss have paid tribute to their fallen friend.
On Wednesday night while on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Jane fought back tears as she recalled fond memories of the late actor.
“Cory had one of the biggest hearts, a real bright light. He was one of those guys. He knew he was breathing rarefied air – the gift that this wonderful show gave us,” she explained.
Jane, who plays Sue Sylvester on the television show, shared a lot of screen time with Cory’s character, Finn Hudson.
“He was one of those guys who was always aware that it was a gift. He was quite generous and one of those adventurous types of people who would – he’d fly to Mexico, he’d throw parties for his friends.”
Earlier in the day, co-star Dianna Agron, who played Quinn, also released a statement.
“I have never lost a friend. In this difficult time, I am leaning on all of the wonderful memories we shared with Cory, how many ways he was able to make us smile. Glee was a gift to all of us. It gave us a family in this industry. We really cut our teeth and grew up on this show. In playing underdogs, we learned that we had dug into the hearts of our viewers and that we could stay there.”
Dianna and Cory played love interests for a brief time in the first season of Glee.
“Cory is so deserving of that place in everyone’s hearts. He was one of the most generous and kind people that I have ever met. He had a smart, curious mind, he was an enormous talent. He was loving to not only me, but my family. My heart goes out to his family, to Lea, to everyone that is struggling with the loss of our friend. We will miss you Cory. We will always carry a piece of you with us.”
Though Darren Criss has not made any direct statements regarding the passing of his friend, the actor wore a black ribbon to honor Cory at the premiere of his new movie Girl Most Likely.
In Touch also reported earlier this week that co-star Matthew Morrison dedicated a song at his most recent concert to his late co-star.
A private memorial service will be held for Cory in his Los Angeles home on Friday night.
