James Franco is officially the next Comedy Central roastee!
Comedy Central has announced that the Roast of the This is The End actor will be taped in Los Angeles in August and will premiere on Labor Day.
“I’ve dreamed about this Roast for as long as I can remember,” the 35 year-old actor shared.
Both the comedy network and James himself took to social media to make sure his fans know that this is the real deal. Comedy Central informed viewers through their Twitter account:
However, James decided to break the big news in a video on Instagram.
Kent Alterman, the network's president of Content Development & Original Programming, also weighed in. “If only James Franco was a more successful, multi-hyphenated, incessant creative risk taker in different media, he’d be the perfect person to roast. Oh well… I supposed we’ll just have to make do,” he joked.
While it remains to be seen who will be poking fun at the Academy Award-nominated actor, it’s guaranteed to be laugh-out-loud funny.
It will be interesting to see if he will get made fun of for being wanted by none other than troubled star Lindsay Lohan. He admitted to turning down the 27-year-old in an interview with Howard Stern.
A roast is not the only surprise that the comedy network and funnyman have in store for us.
Comedy Central received the rights to air Francophrenia, a documentary directed by Franco himself. According to Comedy Central, the movie gives fans a “front-row seat to Franco’s experience during his stint on General Hospital." It is set to air after the Roast.
Do you think James Franco will take it like a champ?
