A judge has sentenced Richard and Mayumi Heene, the couple behind the “Balloon Boy” hoax, to 90 days and 20 days behind bars, respectively. On October 15, the Heenes led the world to believe that their 6-year–old son, Falcon, had floated away in a homemade balloon, while he was really just hiding in the garage. Before learning his fate, Richard gave a brief apology. "I do want to reiterate that I'm very, very sorry," he said. "And I want to apologize to all the rescue workers out there and the people that got involved in the community. That's it." Richard begins his jail time on January 11; Mayumi will do her sentence after Richard has completed his, to avoid both parents being away from their three sons.
