By all appearances, Britney Spears seemed to have recovered from her mental breakdown. But perhaps fearing another embarrassment, her overprotective team is still shielding her from the public and trying to remanufacture her image — even “hiring a voice coach to downplay her Southern accent,” an insider tells In Touch.
But instead of repairing Britney’s rep, her handlers are making it worse. On March 28, Carson Daly blasted Britney’s camp after they said they had to approve and edit her radio interview. “Even when I interviewed Michael Jackson, it wasn’t like this,” Carson tweeted. “I was shocked her management won’t let her do a normal interview.”
What’s more, author Neil Strauss tells In Touch that Britney, 29, wanted to write her tell-all memoir with him, until her team intervened: “She had all of these notes about her life, on Justin Timberlake, sexually acting out and wanting to escape her parents’ control. But her people took away her cell phone — they just wanted to control her.”
